Freelance journalism scrambles your brain because it can turn everything in the world into pitching before doing.

The London Assembly's Transport Committee just issued a new report on autonomous vehicles, and it's notably lacking in enthusiasm: "We currently have not heard sufficient evidence to persuade us that London should welcome autonomous passenger services."

When I was in 7th grade, I did a whole lip synch performance to Rock Lobster by the B52s. (And got mocked for the rest of the year, but I had no cares in the world about it)

This looks great. I would like to know what visually impaired readers think of the project. I'm about to order it.

This is clearly true as a point of fact, but that doesn't mean it's a bad line to campaign on.

It's coming out day again! Hey, I'm Jeremy Whitley and I am demisexual and bi. It took me a long time to talk about my queerness, because I am happily married to a woman and wasn't sure if that made me not queer enough to talk about it. But seeing others come out helped me, so I hope to do the same.

Seems like a self-own for Republicans to say "Let's make the likable, confident guy into a main character."

if it were just up to me i would also ban AI *answering* phone calls and automated call centers generally but I at least understand the use case for them. I don't really understand how the tiny potential benefits of letting AI make phone calls outweighs the *huge* downsides of allowing it

to me, a layup sensible AI regulation is "do not allow the AI agent to make phone calls for any reason"

This. Coming out isn't a thing we do once. Even if we are already out in well parts of our lives—as in openly identifying as queer and not caring who knows it—there will still be people we know or meet who don't know. You can "be out" and still have to navigate coming out again and again and again

Nic Cage:

He continued: “How do you survive AI? Amazon is a very AI friendly company to the tune of 50 billion dollars invested to OpenAI. I am not an AI friendly actor. I didn’t sign the waiver to let them use AI on Spider-Noir. It’s kind of like I’m probably not going to be working with that studio again. But that’s OK. So I got to get with these young directors who are Gen Z and they’re going at it their own way, whether it’s through the YouTube culture or whatever it is. They’re doing it from scratch and by hand. I want to get with that.”

I've tried "normal" for years. Decades. And it almost killed me. So I'm weird. And odd. And silly. And I'll always be.

How significant is this really? Sounds really cool. But also I’m dumb. Will it actually do anything?
