Common Carders Clinging On

Common Carder Bumblebees, Bombus pascuorum, seem to have had a pretty good year considering the weather. They're still clinging on as it gets colder.

Spaniopus dissimilis male.
Male mid tibia somewhat expanded and flattened distally, its posterior surface concave; tibia pale at base but more or less broadly fuscous to black distally. Antennal flagellum uniformly yellowish brown. Male forewing immaculate.
Parasitoids targeting gall-making insects within the Diptera family Cecidomyiidae (gall midges).
