I can’t imagine that any of us are so solipsistic that we expect to be entertained by music, like we’re some feudal warlord apt to become violent unless amused by a piping jester! We understand that music has functional purpose far wider than our insignificant individual selves.

If someone produces a tractor and someone else produces a dub techno track I don’t think we should view the tractor dismissively because it’s “not art”. Both of those things, if used correctly, benefit society, so should really be understood as the same genre.
