Some pain killers and I'll live 😊 My main concern right now is that I have a diving trip planned 2 weeks from now … and I'd things don't get bettter fast I'll have to cancel that 😭

Yesterday I did some long overdue updates to this project.

The caniuse and bcd datasets can now be updated by the app itself. The app also warns when the datasets are quite old.

Now also shows baseline status indicators.

The verdict: a broken middle toe, right where it connects to my foot. Toes are taped together now, and next week a checkup.

X-ray of my right foot. The middle toe is broken.

😂😂

On its way to getting incinerated.

Current status: I hit the couch full speed with my right foot, and now two toes are facing the wrong way. Emergency room here I come … 😫🤦‍♂️

Bootstrap 6 alpha 1 got announced today: blog.getbootstrap.com/2026/10/08/b...

Great to see how many modern CSS features the project is now leaning into: @property, @layer, @starting-style, oklch(), color-mix(), light-dark(), interpolate-size, :has(), …

(Yes, Bootstrap still is a thing)

And the Dutch word for fart is "scheet" … the plot thickens!

@bram.usOct 9, 2026, 11:05 AM

Hahaha, brilliant! 😆 (Didn’t know this, and from now I will start using the word toots more often.) Keep on tooting! 💨

@bram.usOct 9, 2026, 11:02 AM

It’s a sign that you might be on to something! 😜

The opt-in is using the component. If you don’t want the result to be evaluated, use a regular text (or number) input.

@bram.usOct 9, 2026, 9:07 AM

The control deliberately does not accept = symbols and is focused on only accepting the formula. It already uses a mutliple inputs behind the scenes to switch between formula and result. That said, perhaps there could a be live-eval going on that anchors the result to the end of the text somehow.

If you can write CSS, you can write GSS { ● }

I've been dreaming of this for years: a language to build 3D scenes like you write CSS. Selectors, cascade, :hover, keyframes… compiled to one GPU shader.

Meet GSS: GPU Style Sheets.

👀 Ooh, support for `interpolate-size: allow-keywords` and `calc-size()` in Safari Technology Preview 254.

These two allow you to do things like animating elements to `height: auto`.

Check developer.chrome.com/docs/css-ui/... to get the details.

@bram.usOct 9, 2026, 7:24 AM

No. The input does not accept the = sign. The whole expression you enter is evaluated.

aamtest: Testing accessibility in WPT
blogs.igalia.com/mrego/aamtes...

This blog post covers the work @igalia.com has been doing to add a new type of tests in WPT, which allow testing the platform accessibility APIs directly.

Thanks to NLnet Foundation for sponsoring this work.

@bram.usOct 8, 2026, 10:27 PM

Hehe, perhaps I should add that as well 😆

@bram.usOct 8, 2026, 9:31 PM

So, today I built `<calc-input>`. It’s a custom input element that accepts mathematical formulas — such as 2 + 3 or (2 + 3) * 4 — and automatically toggles between showing the formula on focus and the calculated result on blur.

What do you want the new default styling to be for HTML fieldset? Here’s what it’s been forever — a box around things, with the legend text placed over the middle of the line at the top left. (See developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/W... for more.)

Remember Internet Explorer’s “Page Transitions”?

Well, they’re back, thanks to the View Transition API!

→ Blog post: brm.us/page-transit...
→ Demo site: page-transitions.style

The project leverages IE’s meta tags so browser support is not limited to Modern Browsers™ but also includes IE 5.5–8.0 😆
