“I EXIST.” Before expectations, labels & pressure, there was simply YOU. You never had to earn your place in the world. What did younger you need to hear most? ❤️ Repost & share.

MEET THE AGES — SHADOW WORK SERIES:
“I EXIST”
Before you understood expectations, labels, or what anyone wanted from you, there was simply you.
A child discovering the world.
You didn't have to accomplish anything to deserve love.
You didn't have to be useful.
You didn't have to be tough.
You didn't have to make anyone proud.
You simply existed—and that was enough.
As you look back, ask yourself:
Did younger me feel welcomed in the world, or did I learn early that I had to earn my place in it?
Your existence was never something you needed to justify.

Some of us were taught: “Don’t cry. Be a man. Keep it in the family.” But silence doesn’t have to define your life. You can speak, ask for help, set boundaries & heal in safe spaces. ❤️

Repost if this resonates.

**WHAT WE WERE TAUGHT TO HIDE**

Some of us grew up learning that being a “good man” meant staying quiet.

“Don't tell.”
“Don't cry.”
“Don't talk back.”
“Don't embarrass the family.”
“Be a man.”
“Get over it.”
“Nobody wants to hear that.”
“What happens in this house stays in this house.”

Those words may have taught us how to survive certain environments—but they don't have to determine how we live today.

You are allowed to talk about what hurt you.

You are allowed to cry.

You are allowed to ask for help.

You are allowed to set boundaries.

You are allowed to say, “That wasn't okay.”

Being vulnerable doesn't erase your strength.

Sometimes real strength begins when you finally stop carrying everything in silence.

You don't have to expose yourself to everyone. Find safe people and safe spaces where you can be heard without judgment.

**Healing can begin when silence is no longer the only option.**

Sometimes you grieve a father/son relationship while both people are still alive. Acceptance can look like indifference—not hatred. You can honor what you wished for, set boundaries, break cycles & protect your peace.

**WHEN THE RELATIONSHIP HAS ALREADY BEEN GRIEVED**

Sometimes a father/son relationship doesn't end with a funeral.

Sometimes you have to grieve a relationship while the person is still alive.

You may have already mentally, physically, and emotionally grieved the relationship because the connection became too toxic, too painful, or too unhealthy to continue the way you once hoped it would.

And eventually, you may reach a place where you're no longer angry.

You're simply **indifferent.**

That doesn't mean you don't care.

It can mean you've finally accepted what the relationship is—and stopped allowing what it isn't to control your peace.

Sometimes fathers and sons struggle because they see reflections of themselves in one another.

What one person carries may remind the other of something they haven't faced within themselves.

And sometimes someone may look at you and say, *"Why does he always look so sad?"*

Remember: **that's their viewpoint—not necessarily your truth.**

You know what you've lived.

You know what you've survived.

You know what you've healed from.

You don't have to convince everyone to understand your journey.

You can honor the relationship you wished you had while accepting the relationship you actually experienced.

And most importantly, you can choose not to carry the pain forward.

**You can break cycles without becoming bitter.**

**You can create boundaries without hatred.**

**You can grieve without losing yourself.**

And you can still become the kind of man, father, son, brother, or mentor that you once needed.

Your healing matters.

Your peace matters.

**You matter.**
