Yesterday we visited RSPB Old Moor reserve. First time since 1999 I've been been beyond the VC (for meetings). Pete used to visit as a child to Wath Ings. A really lovely reserve. Female American Wigeon looked good, also Wood Sand, 4 Green Sand, Common Sand, 2 Spot Reds, 7 Ruff.

Standing in the garden pegging out the washing. 2 Skylark gently calling as they fly over. I love migration at thus time of year

First visit to St Aidan’s RSPB with my oldest yesterday. Only planned on a quick visit but ended up spending a couple of hours. Lovely reserve. Whilst watching the Cattle Egrets a Shortie flew amongst them. And had incredible views of a dozen or so Bearded Tits. #YorkshireBirding

A #SuperSeabirdSunday that isn't a gull!
About a month ago @unsociable-lapwing.bsky.social and I had a trip to @rspb.bsky.social Bempton Cliffs to see what seabirds were still around.
There were still good numbers of Northern Gannets on the cliffs.
Jay again! 3rd this year. Closest yet, within 20m of my garden. Can't see why it would actually come into the garden but that would be special. Naturally it vanished when I went for my camera
