Chris realized he had unconsciously slowed his usual pace so that Parker could keep up with him. Something he’d been doing for over a decade at this point and he rarely noticed it these days.

Unwilling and unable to take a hint and let the matter go, Wei Ying hurried towards the only occupied table, sitting across from his honey-eyed caffeine donor, one elbow on the propped onto the surface with his chin resting on his palm as he watched the other with a mischievous grin. "So… does my oh so generous benefactor have a name?" He drawled, reveling in the way his words coaxed a blank glance out from the other man, e-reader lowered ever so slightly for his rich sunrise colored eyes to peek above. No answer came, though, so Wei Ying continued to run his mouth. "This one's Wei Ying," he said, abandoning his relaxed slouch for a mock bow. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance." Silence. The e-reader was raised back to it's previous position. Wei Ying chewed at his lip, a rare nervous habit.

"A-Yuan!" Wei Ying practically sang the moment Lan Wangji had lead him to their adjacent room, where the obedient eight year old was waiting patiently at the table alongside three bowls of congee, three cups of perfectly poured tea, and a bowl of fresh fruit. With a shake Wei Ying broke free of any last sleep clinging to him and Lan Wangji's guiding hold, hurrying towards the boy. "My little radish! You made breakfast!? Aiyah, look at you, so sufficient!" A-Yuan's laughter warmed the sunlit room. "A-die cooked!" He corrected, as Wei Ying sat himself as close to the boy as physically possible, before closing even that distance and simply pulling him on his lap. "I got the bowls." "Mh, mh, the most important part of breakfast!" Said Wei Ying with a solemn nod. "Can't have food without a bowl."

"Ahh, Lan Zhan! Jiang Cheng!" Wei Wuxian cried out from behind the bane of Jiang Cheng's past few years. "No fighting, okay? There's no need to fight!" "Stay back," Lan Wangji simply told him, his tone as stony and even as if he was merely dealing with a wild water deer that had dug up his garden, never removing his glaring eyes from Jiang Cheng.
