Least likely "I'm stuck in traffic" excuse - there was a backup of wild turkeys in Alameda.

A rainy day visit from wild turkeys reminded me why farm hens need enough toms around. Without them, our girls would run off with the wild flock and become giant predator snacks in white feathers!

WILD TURKEY SURPRISE! Photo taken September 19, 2026, of some #WildTurkeys roosting on a grey pine tree on my property. This is their normal perch for the evening, and the surprise is not alcohol or food, but what the birds leave underneath the tree (it’s not feathers!). #photography #nature #birds

These wild turkeys visit our yard twice every day. It’s been wonderful to watch the poults grow up over the summer. There are two adult females that share caregiving and are often together. #NewEngland #Nature #WildTurkeys #Birds
