There's plot holes, stuff that'll make you go "Uh, wait a minute..." when you think about it, but that's most OVAs of this era anyway. If it's spooky season and you want some noir and romance with your demon porn, #WickedCity is a good choice.

This mean I'm gonna look at the Streamline Dub? Eh, for now I might check it out without reviewing out of curiosity (I got work tomorrow, so I'd only watch a few minutes), but as of now? #WickedCity is a good horror noir with that ultraviolent OVA cheese that makes it enjoyable.

I don't know what the other dub is like, I set it to Manga UK because this was a cheesy 80's ultra violent OVA and...yeah, that's the kind of dub that would fit an anime like this. That said, the performances were solid, some accents slipped in, but Manga UK does a pretty good job. #WickedCity

Also, maybe another volume, and if there's a manga maybe it's explained better, but...where were the humans that didn't want this? Hell, where were the demons that wanted it? Both Taki's and a third person narration implied this, but we saw neither, outside of Maki. #WickedCity

The twist...I'm not gonna lie, on rewatch, it gives a LOT of plot holes, from making the old man look vulnerable to just how the heck you can fire the DEMON working for the HUMANS when the demon Black Guard has their own boss. #WickedCity

The twist aside, this is actually a decent entry into both the OVA genre and horror noir. Taki and Maki are great characters as we see what makes them tick and they're close to each other in personality, philosophy, and actions, so this isn't out of nowhere. #WickedCity

So this was a Horror Love Story with pornographic elements? That's...new.

Even if I didn't know what the twist was...c'mon, I've seen half a dozen OVAs with this kind of antagonistic relationship with heroic partners of the opposite sex, what ELSE was gonna happen? #WickedCity

Taki says he should walk away...but he can't do that as he's not that kind of an asshole, so peace achieved, new life coming to being, AND our heroes found each other. #WickedCity

"You manipulated us!" ...well...six of one, half dozen of the other. Yeah, you two got played, their plan LEAD YOU to fall in love...but the alternative is your bosses FORCING YOU to have sex, soooooooooo...? #WickedCity

Again, I've never said OVAs were subtle.

Also, follow up, why is the old many saying this is unbelievable? YOUR LITERAL PLAN WAS TO HAVE A HUMAN AND DEMON BANG! #WickedCity

Well, it looks like you can't keep a bad guy down as, yet again, he reassembles himself despite having everything from a lightning bolt up the arse to a cross between the eyes, so it's time for one more attack...from Maki...dressed in white...from the top of the church. #WickedCity

What's funny of Kagome and Inuyasha were in this movie they'd eventually get there...hundreds of episodes later.

Oh, and the old guy was the source of the lightning. #WickedCity

But, well, you can't just simply tell your two best agents "You two need to find a love hotel and get to work," that's kind of an asshole thing to do...so when Taki went AWOL to rescue the one demon that wanted peace, everybody knew they found the match! #WickedCity

It turns out over the centuries, those that made the treaty, and those who still worked on it, LIKED peace and wants to keep it going...but paper can only get ya so far. Sooooooooooo...luck of the draw, Maki and Taki have the DNA to make the babies! #WickedCity

Turns out the old guy took 'em to the church and everything was to lead up for Taki and Maki to unite the two sides the hard...and literal...way. #WickedCity

Well, whoever took Taki and Maki to the church was kind enough to give him pants and his gun...annnnnnnnnnnnd here's where my watch keeps perfect time. #WickedCity

"If this is a dream, I don't ever wanna wake up..." Well, here's the thing...demons can't cry, but Maki is out of happiness. He's DOUBLE that good...and I think the church needs a deep cleaning... #WickedCity

Another mysterious bold of lightning kills off the spider demon as Taki and Maki have a joint dream of them...

(Sees the cross)

...desecrating holy ground...

Only it turns out to NOT be a dream. How'd the get there and is Jesus enjoying the view up there? #WickedCity
