The Scientific Operation campaign OP2.4 began last week at Wendelstein 7-X in Greifswald. Until mid-December, around 60 to 100 plasma discharges will be generated on each of the experiment days.

The campaign topics:

More precise control of plasma power and plasma profiles

Maintaining plasma stability at high pressure

Generation and analysis of fast, high-energy ions in the plasma

Investigation of new operating modes to prevent impurities in the plasma

Development of plasma states with particularly good confinement

Analysis of material load on the plasma vessel walls

Longer discharges with high energy turnover (goal: at least 6 GJ)

Validation of computer models
