Serendipity. #Waverley was in town. Passengers got an hour ashore. So, grabbed a lunch bench for an hour and watched the Common Sands 'til she sailed. Luvly.

It's 22nd May 1975, and the PS Waverley gets ready to set sail for Dunoon from Anderston Quay for her first trip as a preservation vessel. In the background you can see the old Daily Record building.

A very special lady is celebrating her 80th birthday today. 80 years ago today, on 2 October 1946, the paddle steamer Waverley was launched at the A. & J. Inglis Pointhouse shipyard in Glasgow, where the River Kelvin meets the Clyde.

Near Haslemere - Penfold Postbox: Slate plaque № 73365.

The plaque says: “(1820-1893) of the Royal Institution built this house in 1884 and lived here until his death.”
