Line 5 Enbridge Confirmed Aquifer Breach
It is confirmed that there has been a breach of the aquifer near the Marengo River. A breach in the aquifer has many impacts including:
Uncontrolled Water Loss & Pressure Drop:
Puncturing a pressurized (artesian) aquifer lets millions of gallons of groundwater escape uncontrollably to the surface, draining the underground water supply.
Ecosystem and Wetland Damage: Erupting groundwater alters local surface water chemistry and temperatures, increases sulfate levels, and can ruin sensitive habitats like rare wetlands.
Surface Hazards: Heavy, continuous flows can cause localized flooding, road overtopping, bank sloughing, and quicksand-like surface instability around construction sites.
Depleted Water Sources: Long-term loss or lowering of water tables risks drying up nearby natural springs and private or municipal drinking water wells.
Compromised Water Quality: Unfiltered subterranean water rushing up can carry sediments and pollutants into local rivers and streams, threatening aquatic life.
Enbridge did the same thing in Clearbrook, MN and tried to cover it up, workers were the ones who reported the spill to outside sources and it was confirmed by Army Corps. Aquifer take 10000 years to fill, pure artesian water..ruined for oil. How much of our water has to be taken, dirty and ruined before enough is enough. We can't drink oil and water tables are lowering at alarming rates all over America.
