The Gospel Is Not a Get-Out-the-Vote Campaign Christians may vote, and military members have the same right to participate in elections. But we should be careful not to confuse political mobilization with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pete Hegseth urged service members and their families to register and vote, even comparing their numbers with ballots cast in cities such as Detroit and Milwaukee. He also explicitly said commanders should not tell anyone whom to vote for. Our ultimate calling as Christians is greater than winning elections or overwhelming another political side. Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world” - John 18:36, KJV. Vote according to your conscience, but do not make politics your gospel. Only Jesus saves.
