The word #knurly (which is a word I have used forever... well... since I learned it today) perfectly describes the sinuous formations of this ancient black lava. 😉

Pāhoehoe Lava Formations: The ground is covered entirely by dark gray and black basaltic lava rock. It has a metallic, slightly glossy sheen.
Coiled and Ropy Texture: In the centre-right of the frame, the hardened lava forms a distinctive spiral whorl or coiled pattern, resembling concentric ripples or twisted rope.
Undulating Surface: The surrounding terrain is billowy, lumpy, and uneven, filled with smooth bumps, shallow ridges, and cracked fissures where the molten rock once flowed and folded over itself before cooling.
Debris: Small flecks of lighter-coloured gravel, dry twigs, or dried leaves are scattered sparsely across the dips and hollows of the rock.
