[from VisitTrelleborg] 'The word ’trelle’ is used to describe the sloping head of a split log which supported the palisades. Wood finds, dated by dendrochronology, place these forts around AD 980, in the reign of the Viking king Harald Bluetooth.

From archaeology done in the 1980's the traces of a ringfort were discovered in the town of Trelleborg, in the south of Sweden
In the same typology of the Danish kind just across the Øresund
Better yet in 1995 they build a reconstruction of a section of the fort
