Why hasn't every #VIARail car built by #Bombardier as are the #SkyTrain cars and engines in Vancouver?

In case you aren't familiar, they are driverless, gate free, clean, tilting axis trains that go a consistent 50-60MPH (80-96KPH) and have run every 6-min since 1986.

I'm thrilled that VIA Rail is getting an equipment update, and is moving away from US equipment. But it seems strategically important to Canada in this fuel crisis to have intercity trains that run more than twice per week and aren't a third the speed of driving. #viarail #trains

And the next day, the view from that very same train (with the baggage car) crossing the Roughe river to head back to Montréal , showing the bridge reserved for cyclists.
