No, this is not a forest. It is the parking lot of Hotel Koningshof. #Veldhoven #Koningshof

Statue commemorating the laying of the foundation of the Koningshof convent in 1951. I'm not sure who the woman is. She's not a nun, because she doesn't wear a habit, so maybe it's Queen Wilhelmina. #Veldhoven #Koningshof

A closer look at the memorial plaque for the twelve nuns killed in WWII. Moerdijk is on the Hollandse Diep halfway between Rotterdam and Antwerp and has an important bridge, so bridge, town and convent were bombed a lot and the sisters suffered. #Veldhoven #Konigshof

Seating area at Hotel Konigshof in Veldhoven with a Madonna statue and a memorial plaque for twelve nuns killed during WWII bombings in the old convent in Moerdijk. #Veldhoven #Konigshof

The courtyard of Hotel Konigshof with a bell and bell tower. The convent turned hotel was built in 1953 as a replacement for the sisters' former convent in Moerdijk, which was destroyed in a bombing during WWII. #Konigshof #Veldhoven

The hotel where I stayed, Konigshof in Veldhoven in the Netherlands, is a former convent and Catholic school. There also is a Chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary on the grounds. The Chapel dates from 1961, though it looks older. #Veldhoven #Konigshof #Chapel

Windmill Adriaan in Veldhoven in the Netherlands. Built in 1906 and in active use until 1954. Nowadays, it houses an Indian restaurant and stands next to a supermarket. #Veldhoven #Windmills

You can't travel to the Netherlands without visiting at least one windmill, so Tiny Koala pays a visit to windmill Adriaan in Veldhoven. #Veldhoven #TinyKoalaAdventures #Aussiecon5 #Brisbane2028 #Meanjin2028 #Windmills
