Genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) affects a considerable proportion of #postmenopausal women, yet it remains frequently underdiagnosed and undertreated.

#Vaginal_estrogen is an important treatment option BUT how has public awareness evolved alongside the scientific literature?

📈 Using Google Trends, PubMed, and Google Scholar data from 2017–2023, we found in our study published @yoursexmedjour :

🔹 Google search interest in “vaginal estrogen” increased steadily, demonstrating a strong positive temporal trend.

🔹 Scientific publications examining vaginal estrogen also increased substantially over the same period.

🔹 Remarkably, 131 articles were published between 2017–2023, compared with 192 articles over the preceding 65 years…..highlighting the rapid recent expansion of research in this area.

Importantly, these findings demonstrate correlation rather than causation. Whether scientific recommendations are driving public interest or increasing patient interest is helping stimulate further research…..remains an important question!

Our findings also highlight the need to continue improving patient education, accessibility, and equitable delivery of evidence-based #menopausal care.
