Support #unitedFarmWorkers. I just did again today. They help workers like Rosa get unionized for living wages, benefits, and safe working conditions.

Dear Vickie,

Over a year ago, farm workers across Southern California endured weeks of illegal, racist raids. The UFW–on behalf of farm workers–and our partners fought back.

Yesterday we won a preliminary injunction in Vasquez Perdomo v. Mullin against the Trump Administration’s DHS/ICE which prevents them from making arrests without a warrant without properly evaluating community ties and other important factors.

We anticipate that this injunction will significantly reduce the number of arrests. From downtown LA to the fields of Oxnard ...

NOT SHOWN here but the email continues:

and Coachella, this ruling will help defend the rights of every
worker.

We are continuing the work on separate, but similar cases covering the Central Valley and Southern CA. The next hearing for the Southern California case is next week, Thursday 9/24 and we are seeking to limit suspicion-less stops, even if they don't end in arrest. This has often been summarized as the racial profiling portion of this lawsuit.

We wanted to share the press release and news articles about this with you so you know the latest in the legal battle we’re waging to protect farm workers and other immigrants. The full press release can be seen below. In addition, you can read some of the news stories and the official order here:

Thank you for caring and helping us wage this very important fight.

The #DelanoGrapeStrike began on #ThisDayInHistory in 1965 when mostly #Filipino farm workers in #California demanded to be paid the federal #MinimumWage and walked out. They were joined by Hispanic workers in an action that took five years, and later founded #UnitedFarmWorkers.
