Morning #UnconfinedWalks ahead of afternoon emergency freezer defrost of less than joy. Couldn't face it last night when I realised the freezer had iced up over its seal. I must, must replace.
For the record #UnconfinedWalks en route to a rushed visit to mum (who is perkier) before my afternoon unravelled
Had to be calmed down by M and do a brain reboot. Most moved by the faces of the past. People peering at us from 2000 years ago, but so close you could feel them breathing. Incredible experience emotionally, if not professionally. #UnconfinedWalks #Naples #Vesuvius #Pompeii #Herculaneum
#UnconfinedWalks the Thames (with rowers) just before heading out on a Moloko ride to Cobham (and back) this morning
#UnconfinedWalks managed to dodge the rain again. Still quite a blustery wind though
Mistimed my supermarket run. These sandals won't make ot to next year anyway but the insoles are now comprehensively disintegrating #UnconfinedWalks
#UnconfinedWalks on the way home from work. #TeaUp not so tea.
#UnconfinedWalks today was supposed to be a gentle amble into Sorrento to get our train tickets for our various jaunts. Instead we did a replay of yesterday's torrential soaking! Thunder, lightning, the works. Vesuvius no longer visible from the hotel!
#UnconfinedWalks consisted of yomping up endless flights of steps in beautiful Positano until the heavens opened and the gods unleashed thunderbolts and torrential rain! Dramatic, scary (M was off wildlife spotting in the hinterland and had to hide with a lizard in a crevasse) and funny in the end!
#UnconfinedWalks out of the flat at 06:30 this morning to join what definitely felt like winter morning laps. Beautiful though (photos around 8am when I was on my way home again)
#UnconfinedWalks on a nice but brisk day to be out. Sitting with mum and warming up was not a bad midafternoon.
#UnconfinedWalks rain stopped just in time. Deer definitely getting frisky
Climbed Vesuvius. Hot, steep and slithery underfoot as you walk across gritty ash and clinker. We saw steam/smoke gushing from the caldera and you could smell the sulphur. Unforgettable. 3 course lunch in a vineyard on the slopes. 5 wines, 43% proof apricot liqueur! #UnconfinedWalks #DrunkWaddling
The Weather Has Turned official #UnconfinedWalks post
(It's perfectly ok tbh. Tho sandals were at lunchtime, not repeated this evening)
As it is grey and wet today, I am not planning on leaving the house, so here are some #UnconfinedWalks pics from the last few days that I haven’t got around to posting.
#UnconfinedWalks Cloud starting to build up this evening (after early fog). New park hazard, someone trying to skateboard down the steepest hill in the park on the wrong side of the road. Also saw a rider almost taken out by a stag
Anyway. I was in the office before the optician. It became less damp later. #UnconfinedWalks
Today's #UnconfinedWalks has been nearly 50 years in the making. I started Latin at school in 1977 and knew immediately I wanted to visit Pompeii. I've been scared of flying but improving. Good flight yesterday, Sorrento today. Vesuvius from hotel window. Magic!
