I’ll see if I can find the stats but they have to be much better than #UMich. Leadership has acknowledged our northern #Michigan /UP problem and it puts a bigger target on our back with GOP in state #legislature. We need to have more of a presence up there. However that looks.
Feeling like Fall 🍂 #UMich

University of Michigan's proposed partnership with Los Alamos isn't just a disaster for community relations and public trust. It will also hurt academic research at the *public* university, says historian and #umich public policy professor Joy Rohde.

I went to #UMich SMTD production of 8 short plays of Samuel Beckett, whom I knew nothing about until today.
That was bleak. Like #Nietzsche in #play form, and deeply uncomfortable to me being claustrophobic, full grown men in burlap sacks and such
I think I need Love Hypothesis after that 😬
The Advisory Board for Intercollegiate Athletics at #UMich has been a bunch of sycophants, and I wouldn't be surprised if Portnoy is involved in high level decision making. We purposely tried to make one person who seemed to have a spine and call out bad behavior (an #engineering prof) the Chair
FWIW there are 7 African #immigrant men in #UMich #mechanical #engineering department, with PhDs from places like MIT and Berkeley. White men professors are well under 50% of the profs in all of our engineering departments
I’m starting to think the #UMICH #Wolverines may not have a good football team this year 😄
Go Bucks! Surely a 17-point lead with 9 minutes left is enough this time…

Interesting how #computerscience has collapsed so much as a major at #UMich that it’s no longer restricted. I had no idea that they had these restrictions in place but: #ComputerScience through college of engineering went from 747 students to 294 students between 2023-2026, and LS&A from 728 to 274.
In 2024, my #UMich #SenateAssembly colleagues elected me the first ever #clinical track representative to SACUA, the executive level #FacultySenate leadership, after the clinical track was (finally) given representation in 2023 (we were the very large Washington DC of the university for 200+ years)

When the federal government revoked TPS, the student was notified by USCIS that they're to appear for removal proceedings this year. They're seeking legal support so they can stay to finish their studies.
