#WILD! Combined wireless #electrophysiology, #IMU, camera & #UltrasonicAudio with onboard #TinyML and closed-loop #optogenetics in freely moving mice, even enabling recordings during #SocialBehavior and: in large outdoor environments. …Truly: WANT!

Diagram of a device labeled MCU, TinyML, Sync, NSP, Stim. control, I/O, Bluetooth, Storage, Battery, WILD-API, and components including a microphone, camera, neural amp, stimulator, and SD card. Labels: BATTERY, SD card, WILD, BASE PLATE, CAMERA and microphone.

system diagram of WILD. Behavioral and electrophysiological signals are fed
into TinyML and NSP modules and stored in a microSD card. Real-time detection
(Det) of neural events and behavioral motifs is performed on board and can
be used to control optogenetic manipulations in a closed-loop manner (Stim).
Communication with the host computer is achieved via Bluetooth, and seamless
synchronization with external devices is provided, all controlled by WILD–API.
The inset illustrates a mouse implanted with a WILD device, electrodes, battery
and protective 3D casing. Amp, amplifier; ephys, electrophysiolological
recording; opto-stim, optogenetic stimulation.Diagram titled WILD showing Ephys, NSP, USV, Pupil, and Motion. Labels include Behavior, Feature detection, Signal processing, Automation, Stimulation, Closed-loop neural intervention, Behavior-aware automation, Det, Stim, Detect only, and Stim on.

A wireless platform for recording and control of neural and behavioral
activity in freely behaving small animals. a, Top: a schematic of WILD
operations. Behavioral and electrophysiological signals are processed onboard
to support feature detection, behavior-aware automation and closed-loop
neural intervention. Data are stored locally, while wireless communication
enables synchronization and monitoring through a remote device. Bottom:
WILD enables wireless recording of neural electrical activity (electrophysiology
(Ephys); scale bar, 0.5 mV, 50 ms) alongside behavioral variables, including USVs,
pupil dynamics and locomotor parameters (scale bars, pupil diameter (Pupil)
0.2 a.u.; locomotion speed (Motion) 2 cm s−1, 5 s), in freely behaving mice.Research on animal movement, including images of a field with boxes and a rodent, followed by graphs.
