Today is Tyrannosaurus rex Day, so to celebrate, here's several depictions of this iconic apex predator of the Maastrichtian and how artwork representing it has evolved along with our understanding of it.
#TrexDay

Two panel painting by Charles Knight of Tyrannosaurus rex, from 1919. Note the outdated pose in the upper panel. Rudolph Zellinger's Age of Reptiles, on display in the Peabody Museum of Natural History. This one dates to the 1940's. This section of mural represents the Late Cretaceous, featuring a Tyrannosaurus rex at center, surrounded by Ankylosaurus, a hadrosaur(then Anatosaurus, today Edmontosaurus), and Triceratops. A pterosaur (Pteranodon) is in flight in the background. Volcanic activity is depicted in the background as well. A pair of Tyrannosaurus rex sprinting, by Gregory Paul. (From the 90's, I believe)Gabriel Ugueto's reconstruction of Tyrannosaurus rex, here in a scene of the miniseries Prehistoric Planet(2022).
