It was a delight joining the Vars community as they distributed native 200 saplings to residents—a brilliant way to mark National Forest Week and Bytown’s 200th.

A BIG thank you to our friends at #Lingotto whose volunteers came out to help us steward and water over 20 trees in the W. Village! It has been wonderful working in this historic neighborhood to help grow and maintain its #treecanopy as part of our #TreesWestVillage project.

Smiths Falls lost approximately 13 acres of tree canopy from 2019 to 2024, with major development identified as a key factor. Coverage now sits at 23.25%, below the town’s 30% target.
