Vigil After De Profundis (1909-12) by Austrian Expressionist poet, Georg Trakl (1887-1914) Mortuary steeped in night. I keep watch while my father sleeps. Death’s stark, chalk-relief visage Blur-shifts into candlelight. Fly-buzzed, soft musk of flowers. Numbed and hushed – my heart attends To the wind tapping lightly at the door, Which opens with a bright click. Ripened corn ripples as the Sun glistens in the cope of heaven. With tree and bramble fruit-bountied - With air wing-churned and moth-skimmed, Country folk mow tall grass in the Hot, thick still of noon. Making the sign of the cross at the Dead, I step soundlessly into the burnished haze. Free adaptation from the German: ©Jan Peters/Solivagant Wisdom, 2025

So it's National Poetry Day, and I have skin in the game.

Latest total. Be advised, this book is NOT on sale in any bricks and mortar bookshops. It is ONLY available through Amazon.

One further sale this week in Canada, which makes 47 altogether in that country.

Verflossen ist das Gold der Tage,
Des Abends braun und blaue Farben (😱):
Des Hirten sanfte Flöten starben.
Des Abends blau und braune Farben
Verflossen ist das Gold der Tage.

I've had a new review today on Goodreads. The reviewer, Thomas Keith, is American and from Austin Texas.
