Nanta is one of the original four, the first I made up nearly 50 years ago. Her role diminished in the rewrites until she was no more than a snarky comment from Tayon, but she's now a main character in MadStones. (cont.)

Here's Rolan, another of the first four I invented. Originally a somewhat distant Gandalf-like figure, he moved to center stage in later rewrites. The "Fire" chapter is the first I ever wrote down, pencil on paper.
