Would you approach this house on Halloween?

🧙‍♂️🧵 7/ Now it’s over to you, the #Tolkien community! Post away! I hope #TolkienTrewsday #TolkienTuesday gets people chatting, meeting new friends and discovering more about J.R.R. Tolkien! This is your event! 🗨️

🧙‍♂️🧵 2/ Let’s begin! This week’s theme (Week 188) is “Journey’s end”. Please use the following tags when you join in: #TolkienTrewsday #TolkienTuesday #Tolkien. You can tweet art, quotes, thoughts, blogs, academic work, reading recommendations, etc. 🗨️

Trewsday is the Hobbit name for Tuesday! Tolkien Trewsday is a community event based on BlueSky but sometimes is run on other online spaces. Each week we form a fellowship to collectively post about a pre-selected theme about Tolkien (his works and his life) as well as adaptions, academic writing and creative stuff such as fanfic, fanart and cosplay. Themes are selected by myself (the organiser) and a steerage group but also by polls or guest hosts/curators. Together we will build a collective outpouring of creativity, knowledge and love for J.R.R. Tolkien. The inspiration for this comes from the highly successful #FolkloreThursday which engaged lovers of Folklore, academics, artists and more to share their love of folklore. We only ask that if you are joining in, please do so with courtesy and kindness in your posts/tweets. This is a positive-action community event, open to all and supportive of fan diversity. Intolerance, racism, bigotry have no place here. Thank you! In 2025 Tolkien Trewsday had a redesign. The Two Trees remain symbolic but now Telperion (Silver Tree) has a sword trunk and Laurelin (Gold Tree) has a staff trunk. There are two versions of this new design (Top and Left).

Journey's end always makes me think of Frodo at the Grey Havens. Still wrecks me after all these rereads. Might pull my old paperback off the shelf for this one. #TolkienTuesday

#TolkienTrewsday Week 187: “I am in fact a Hobbit!” (22/09/2026) – #Tolkien once declared him a Hobbit (except in size) in a Letter (#213) to Deborah Webster dated 25 October 1958. And 22 September is traditionally Hobbit, celebrating both Bilbo and Frodo Baggin’s fictional birthdays. #Tolkien #TolkienMonth Bilbo in his Hobbit hole from Ralph Bakshi’s “The Lord of the Rings” animation. #TolkienTrewsday Week 188: “Journey’s End” (29/09/2026) – in Middle-earth lore, the White Ship carries Gandalf, Frodo Baggins, Bilbo Baggins, Galadriel, and Elrond from Middle-earth on 29 September, the Third Age. As we close #TolkienMonth, do great tales ever truly end? #Tolkien #TolkienMonth Gandalf and Frodo stand besides the White Ship at the Grey Havens. This will be their journey’s end.
