From an Oct. 2022 interview with Parthi Kandavel: "Q. Why have you decided to run?

A. It matters to me what happens in my community. I pledge to reign [sic] in reckless development and protect our neighbourhoods. I’ve committed to re-investing in the residents, communities and businesses of Scarborough Southwest. The mandate of Councillor is to represent the residents - I’ll do exactly that. This is why our campaign is proud to have taken the No Developer Money pledge. I will only be accountable to the residents of our ward, not to any outside or developer interests."From a May 2026 Toronto Star article: "A Toronto city councillor’s dealings with developers appear to be the focus of the police investigation into allegations against him.

The Ontario Provincial Police probe into Coun. Parthi Kandavel was prompted by a watchdog complaint from the owners of a development in his Scarborough Southwest ward, according to the company’s lawyer, while sources allege he sought money in exchange for allowing a different project in the area to go ahead."

Point of Privilege by Councillor Paul Ainslie: Councillor Ainslie, rising on a Point of Privilege, stated that Councillor Perruzza turned to him and said “I'm gonna call the question” and made an obscene gesture at him. Councillor Ainslie stated that Councillor Perruzza had been chirping at him since the second day of Council when Councillor Ainslie asked Councillor Perruzza to apologize to the Speaker, and that he has had enough of it. Councillor Ainslie further stated that when he asked Councillor Perruzza if he had just made obscene gesture at Councillor Ainslie, Councillor Perruzza responded with “Yeah. What's it to you?”

Ruling by Speaker Frances Nunziata: Speaker Nunziata accepted the Point of Privilege and ruled that Councillor Perruzza must apologize.

Point of Privilege by Councillor Anthony Perruzza: Councillor Perruzza, rising on a Point of Privilege, stated that he did tell the Councillor that he was going to call the question, but he would never call the question, and the Speaker knows he would never support calling the question, that he’s never voted for calling the question. Councillor Perruzza further stated that if Councillor Ainslie took offense to his turning towards him with his arm straight out, he apologizes for that.

Ruling by Speaker Frances Nunziata: Speaker Nunziata accepted the Point of Privilege and ruled that was not an apology.

Point of Privilege by Councillor Anthony Perruzza: Councillor Perruzza, rising on a Point of Privilege, stated that he apologized for sticking out his arm at him. Councillor Perruzza stated that he’s describing what he did and he’s apologizing for it, and what kind of apology did the Speaker want?

Point of Privilege by Councillor Paul Ainslie: Councillor Ainslie, rising on a Point of Privilege, stated that to clarify for Councillor Perruzza and the rest of this Chamber the Point of Privilege that he stood on is that Councillor Perruzza had turned to him and said, I'm calling the question, then he made an obscene gesture at him—a gesture that where he grew up in is an obscene gesture. Councillor Ainslie further stated Councillor Perruzza did not just stick his arm out at him, and he was asking for an apology.

anyway aside from showing what an outlier holyday is, it also shows what an outlier _Bradford_ is; he has basically spent the past 3 years trying to distinguish himself as Not Like Olivia Chow rather than cultivating allies.

#TOcouncil #TOpoli

A bar chart with the difference in percentage points between a councillor's self-similarity (100%) and their next most similar one, ordered highest to lowest. Holyday is the outlier at almost 50%. The next ones are Burnside (23.13) and Bradford (22.96). The lowest is Bravo at 8.21 (she voted almost the same as Perks).

i don't think anyone cares (hence the .png instead of actual data) but i've been noodling around with the #TOcouncil voting record. this is for Chow's tenure, each column showing identical votes as a percentage of the councillor's max votes.

#TOpoli

A large 26 by 26 spreadsheet, with Toronto city councillors' surnames as column and row headers. Every cell has a percentage in it that represents the row councillor's identical votes as a percentage of the column councillor's votes (so there is a diagonal line of "100%" cells where it compares a councillor to themselves), with higher percentages shaded a darker green. The numbers are not particularly important. The "Holyday" column is noticeably lighter than the others, on account of him being the lone "No" vote so often. The "Chernos Lin" and "Shan" rows are lighter because they both only served partial terms.

note to politicians: if you are running for re-election _please_ include your campaign website in the city's official listing so people don't have to google it

_especially_ if, in recent years, you were charged and tried (albeit found not guilty) for sexual assault
