DCCC adds six more candidates to Red to Blue

The DCCC is adding six new Democratic challengers running in deep-red districts to its Red to Blue endorsed candidate program. The endorsement slate is the latest indicator of how bullish Democrats are feeling a month out from Election Day. Here’s the list.
Blake Gendebien, New York’s 21st District. Gendebien is a dairy farmer running in the Upstate New York seat being vacated by retiring Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.). In 2024, the district went for President Donald Trump by 21 points.
Dwayne Romero, Colorado’s 3rd District. Romero, an Army veteran, is challenging Rep. Jeff Hurd (R-Colo.) in a seat that voted for Trump by 10 points. Hurd found himself on the wrong side of the White House earlier this year when he voted against Trump’s tariffs.
Eliott Rodriguez, Florida’s 27th District. Rodriguez is a Cuban-American former local news anchor whose biography is tailor-made for this majority Latino Miami-area district. Rodriguez is seeking to knock off Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-Fla.), the incumbent who notably recorded an ad distancing herself from Trump’s deportation agenda. This district backed Trump by 15 in 2024.
Chris Jones, Arkansas’ 2nd District. Jones is facing House Financial Services Committee Chair French Hill (R-Ark.) in a district Trump carried by 16 last cycle. Some outside Democratic groups, including Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker’s PAC, have started to spend in the seat.
Justin Pearson, Tennessee’s 9th District. Pearson started the cycle by primarying Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.). Cohen decided not to seek reelection after a GOP gerrymander shifted the safe blue Memphis seat to a heavily red district that backed Trump by 21 points.
Teresa Benitez-Thompson, Nevada’s 2nd District. Nevada’s 2nd District is open due to Rep. Mark Amodei’s (R-Nev.) upcoming retirement. Amodei notably has refused to back the GOP candidate, David Flippo, in a seat that Trump won by 14 points.
