#TimeTravelAuthors Most cynical character? I don't think I can point to any of them, be that in #AndinoAndina or #TimeShift The cynic used to be me, the author, in the past. Grief is giving me a beating and I don;'t know who I'll be going forward.

#WIPSnips 8 October I don't have lizard so you get bumblebee. #TimeShift #specfic #TimeTravelAuthors

In the fading autumn light, I can see the last bright splashes of colour of the Nasturtiums. There are other evergreens and even a Japanese Maple tree outside what I think must be Gillian's office window. In the corner is a Buddha statue with a water feature tinkling away. I tiptoe around in my already wet and dirty socks, with an unfamiliar sense of reverence. As I look closer, there is a sleepy bumblebee curled up in one of the fiery blossoms.

#WIPSnips October 7. Comparison.
This is from #TimeShift

“That's the nicotine withdrawal,” Lucia nodded. “Happens every time I try and quit, that's what gets me. I get stressed and can't concentrate or focus on anything, so I end up going back. I just can't do gum, or that patch thing. E cigs aren't the same, I need real tobacco taste, you know?”
I nodded. I did know, and I'd had a really easy time 'quitting' in Gillimere, and even now, in comparison. Nonetheless, I decided to play it up. “I feel a bit like I'm floundering, and have lost my mind at the same time?”
“You seem to be doing alright so far?” Lucia glanced at me sideways, goose stepping forward in the queue to pay.
“Huh. Let me be the judge of that,” Carmella huffed. Lucia ignored her.

#TimeTravelAuthors October 7. haven't got embarrass, so I give you redfaced. This is from #TimeShift my WIP
#specfic #WIPSnips #WritersonBlue

At the garage I walked to the area marked Reception, where I was greeted by name. It dawned on me I had no idea what the pin-code for the credit card was. Red-faced, I groped around in my bag — or rather her bag — and pretended I must have left my purse at work. But the receptionist just smiled.
"Don't worry, Ashleigh, we've got your credit card details on file, unless you've changed anything since last time."
Relief washed through me, and I returned her smile. "No, same old me," I said, while thinking, if only you knew.

#WIPSnips

A glass wall separates the lift landing and the emergency stairs from the office area. A motion sensor opens sliding glass doors, and I continue to follow Sally down a short corridor, hoping I’ll recognise my desk by some dream magic.

I wonder who she is. I turn it over in case there is a date or other clues on the back, but all it says is Essie, written in pencil. Is that short for Esther? Estelle?
Studying the woman in the photograph again, I am bedazzled by her eyes, and feel myself falling through time...

The black-and-white photo turns sepia, then a garish 70s Instamatic colour photo. Her playful smile widens to a grin, her hand reaching forward and pulling me – the viewer, over half a century later – into the picture. In an instant I am enveloped by a hubbub of noise and voices, but when I turn my head to look around, it's like moving in jelly, and what I see leaves traces of movement, wavy stripes that give me vertigo. I'm in-between worlds or dimensions where no one can see me. Our hands – mine and this Essie – represent the boundary of a bubble.
Hers is a vibrant technicolour world; I’m in a monochrome jellylike bubble outside of time.

Last month I read The Names by Florence Knapp and rated it highly on #storygraph

Daylight saving time is officially on life support. As tech and chronobiology clash, are we finally ditching the clock shift for good? The debate hits a boiling point. ⏰⚡️ #LjetnoVrijeme #TimeShift
