Heron fishing on the river Wey, taken from photo near Pierrepont Home Farm in #Tilford #surrey. #oilpainting #art #heron
I enjoyed experimenting with different mark making.

Oil painting of a grey heron standing upright in shallow water, facing left, its white neck and yellow bill set against a dark brown mud bank that fills the top third of the canvas. The river below is a mosaic of green, yellow and violet dabs of reflected tree canopy, with the heron's pale reflection curving away beneath it, broken up by the dabs. Smooth horizontal strokes of olive and green form the calm water in the foreground.
