Directed by John Wilson, who presents this documentary that is very offsetting and often off track with the title. It starts somewhere, goes over there and then ends up nowhere. Concrete is about 25%...

John Wilson cements his everyday musings on life and death by relating to #TheHistoryofConcrete 🧱 at @viffest.bsky.social bit.ly/conc-rete #VIFF2026

My reviews of brilliant horror film #ResidentEvilㅤ, the delightful #ShaunTheSheep The Beast of Mossy Bottom, Ethan Hawke in #TheWeight, the incredibly funny #TheHistoryOfConcrete and Saoirse Ronan in #BadApples: lastonetoleavethetheatre.blogspot.com/2026/09/resi...

"Wilson has a talent for pairing quirky visuals from his beloved New York City with an oral narrative they often have little to do with, something akin to audio visual puns." #TheHistoryOfConcrete #JohnWilson

"... #JohnWilson 's idiosyncratic humor distinguishes “ #TheHistoryofConcrete” from a traditional issue-oriented reportorial documentary, allowing him to smuggle ideas inside entertainment and—he hopes—bring the film greater attention."

You will never predict the wacky places #TheHistoryOfConcrete goes to bring you stories about the folks who cement our lives. Documentarian John Wilson…uh…is at it again, gifting us with a beautifully unfocused, unfussy ode to foundations.

My review: freshfiction.tv/the-history-...

John Wilson is one of our most entertaining Documentarians and The History of Concrete lives up to that reason.
