On this day in 1936 London saw the Battle of Cable Street, when Londoners of all backgrounds came together to prevent a fascist march through the East End.

Which #Discworld book references another Battle of Cable Street?

#DiscworldConvention #TerryPratchett #OnThisDay #TheBattleOfCableStreet

Black text on a pale yellow background with a black Art Nouveau border.

The text reads "On this day in 1936... The Battle of Cable Street was fought in London."

Below it is a photo of a red circular wall plaque with white writing, denoting (as Pterry would put it) that the battle took place halfway up a wall. The text on the plaque reads:
"Tower Hamlets Environment Trust
The Battle of Cable Street
The people of East London rallied to Cable Street on the 4th October 1936 and forced back the march of the fascist Oswald Mosley and his Blackshirts through the streets of the East End."
"They shall not pass"
