🛍️ I’ve been yacking about these mags elsewhere on the socials, and there are at least four more issues sold as a result of simply sharing my delight, which had caught the interest of others.

Mentioning things in passing is powerful 🤓👍

👨‍💻 Take a look at the various issues of “The Classic Adventurer” here 👇

There are free PDFs, though I prefer a printed magazine myself.

I got mine from Lulu who do print-on-demand publications that are really high quality.

Absolutely delighted

📬 A while ago I was listening to The @retroadventurers.bsky.social podcast in which @jasoncompton.bsky.social mentioned “The Classic Adventurer” magazine.

I ordered the remastered Issue 01 and it is 😍👌

📬 Looking into the Design book revealed the thick #ZXSpectrum Guide book.

Now, as much as I like me some text adventuring, I actually much prefer reading from physical books than on screens.

Two paperback books by Shaun McClure arranged next to each other on a table. “How to Design Adventure Games” is placed flat while “A Guide to ZX Spectrum Adventure Games 1982 - 1985” is stood up right so we can see the thickness. Both paperback books are now stood on their side, spine facing up, so we can see the difference in thickness. “How to Design Adventure Games” is much slimmer than the chonk of “A Guide to ZX Spectrum Adventure Games 1982 - 1985”. Rather curiously, the design book is “By Shaun McClure” rather than just the author name. It’s inconsistent with the guide book, and looks odd.

📬 Today’s video game book spotlight goes to a pair of adventure game tomes by Shaun McClure.

I learned of them via a mention of one in an episode of The @retroadventurers.bsky.social podcast
