Transcript: "Vanished 'ghost' THERE is—or rather was—a ghost at Harrow Weald Lodge, where several Harrow Council departments are housed, I was told the other day. The ghost has not put in an appearance for some time and its identity is a mystery. No one has seen it to discover whether it is Oliver Cromwell, who is reputed to have drilled troops of his New Model Army in the garden of an earlier building on the site, or some other historical personage. Apparently it had its heyday during the war, since when it seems to have vanished. Fire-watchers slept at the Lodge then, and several claimed that something tried to push them out of bed during the night. They afterwards swore that their sleeping quarters lay on a ghost's beat.
