Egypt's antiquities ministry uncovered a hidden shaft with about 10 coffins at Dra Abu el-Naga, near Luxor.
One belonged to Merit, an 18th Dynasty chantress of Amun who sang and played sistra to summon the gods, a role formalized as elite under Hatshepsut.
