Horizontal bar chart titled "Weight loss with type 2 diabetes": weight lost by adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes on the top dose of six drugs, each beside its own trial's placebo, counting all randomised patients. Retatrutide 12 mg (TRIUMPH-2, 80 weeks): 18.8% against 5.1% on placebo. Tirzepatide 15 mg (SURMOUNT-2, 72 weeks): 14.7% against 3.2% on placebo. CagriSema 2.4/2.4 mg (REDEFINE 2, 68 weeks): 13.7% against 3.4% on placebo. Semaglutide 7.2 mg (STEP UP T2D, 72 weeks): 13.2% against 3.9% on placebo. Survodutide 6.0 mg (SYNCHRONIZE-2, 76 weeks): 9.8% against 3.9% on placebo. Orforglipron 36 mg (ATTAIN-2, 72 weeks): 9.6% against 2.5% on placebo. Retatrutide and survodutide, the two trials read out at the EASD congress, are drawn in purple and the other four in grey. These are separate trials of 68 to 80 weeks, not a head-to-head comparison.

$ZEAL

Scatter chart of five obesity drugs in their phase 3 trials in adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes, one point per drug at its top dose. Across: the share of patients who stopped the drug because of side effects. Down: average weight change counting all randomised patients. Semaglutide 7.2 mg (STEP UP T2D, 72 weeks): 6 per cent stopped, weight -13.2 per cent. Retatrutide 12 mg (TRIUMPH-2, 80 weeks): 7 per cent stopped, weight -18.8 per cent. CagriSema 2.4/2.4 mg (REDEFINE 2, 68 weeks): 8 per cent stopped, weight -13.7 per cent. Orforglipron 36 mg (ATTAIN-2, 72 weeks): 11 per cent stopped, weight -9.6 per cent. Survodutide 6 mg (SYNCHRONIZE-2, 76 weeks): 26 per cent stopped, weight -9.8 per cent. Four of the points sit between 6 and 11 per cent stopping; survodutide is alone on the right at 26 per cent, with about the same weight loss as the oral drug orforglipron. Survodutide's trial was published in the New England Journal of Medicine on 1 October 2026. These are separate trials with different participants and lengths, not a head-to-head comparison. Tirzepatide is not shown because its trial's published summary gives no comparable figure for stopping.
