A vertically composed abstract fantasy artwork centers on a huge walnut suspended in the middle of a swirling vortex. The walnut is split nearly from top to bottom, its jagged opening glowing with intense molten orange and yellow light. Concentric circular bands radiate outward behind it in blurred streaks of red, orange, green, teal, cream, and black, creating the sensation that the entire scene is spinning around the nut. Three vivid red squirrels occupy different points around the vortex. A large squirrel leaps at upper right, its enormous tail curling overhead into a fiery spiral of red, orange, black, and teal. A smaller squirrel bounds inward from the upper left, accompanied by another tightly coiled spiral tail. Near the bottom, a third squirrel stands among oversized walnut shells, reaching toward thin twisting stems and scattered fragments. Curving rows of opened nutshells frame portions of the image like an organic border. Red paint splashes, black droplets, seedlike shapes, looping lines, and tiny floating fragments scatter across the composition. The lower edge contains patches of mossy green ground before dissolving upward into the energetic circular abstraction. The overall image combines recognizable squirrels and walnuts with explosive motion, saturated color, and painterly distortion.
