Made basil pesto today. That’s it. #SundayPixSolitude

Just another couple of pictures of the cottage that really say “solitude” to me. #SundayPixSolitude

A shoreline and lake, with dense trees and a calm surface. The right side of the picture is a wall of bright fog.A small beach with the water all the way up to meet the grasses, with two beach chairs sitting in the water, and abandoned toys on the ground. The lake and opposite shoreline disappear into fog.

#SundayPixSolitude Though there are other cottages up at our lake, on a quiet weekend it can feel like I’m completely alone with the woods. Even the mosquitoes don’t ruin it.

Just me and the sea #SundayPixSolitude

Waves rolling in under a cloudy sky. There is a pink tinge of sunset.

This is a zoomed-in, filtered, fuzzy, old colour photo, probably originally posted on Instagram around 13 years ago. And, it is a bit of a cheat.
There is a Caledonian Pine tree, standing all alone in open farmland. The tree trunk is lit by the afternoon sun, all around it the vegetation is brown, orange and gold. A low lying line of hills crosses edge-to-edge mid frame, with patchy bands of cloud in the sky above. Its canopy of reddish branches and green needles looks like a parasol, set against the sky. I captured the image from a moving train, a short distance north of Larbert, in Scotland.
Why is it a bit of a cheat? Well, it is an optical illusion. For there are two trees. For a moment or two they merge into one, as you pass by. I first noticed these in the 1990’s and have looked out for this separation / merging / separation effect countless times over the years. Simple pleasures for my simple mind.

Best time to get a photo, early morning when nobody else is around to spoil the shot.

The photo shows a person adjusting a camera on Westminster Bridge in London, looking south toward the Vauxhall skyline along the River Thames.

A sacred kingfisher and Tirumala hamata, the dark tiger butterfly and a forest kingfisher seen at Mackay botanic gardens - a great place for solitude -

Predominately black wings with stunning light blue patches - the butterfly is seen settled on yellow flowers Blue wings and yellow-orange breast - an agile and observant birdLooking like a kookaburra wearing a blue jacket this beautiful blue and grey bird is seen sitting on a branch.

Early morning, wet weather, heading south... reasons there is nobody else on Westminster Bridge.

The image shows a person walking with a black umbrella along a green metal bridge in foggy or rainy weather.

Checking messages?

The image shows a person sitting on large stone steps next to a brick wall, wearing a dark long-sleeved dress and holding a mobile phone.

Our cat Casper didn't mind being by himself and watching the garden.

The image shows the silhouette of a cat looking out a window at a dramatic, fiery-red sky at sunset.

The statue is getting ready to dance in the rain.

The image shows a silhouette of Athena, a 12-meter (39-foot) bronze sculpture located on a roundabout near London City Airport in Silvertown, East London. The sky behind is mostly cloudy and heading towards sunset.

An usually solitary parakeet. Usually they flock together and loudly squawk.

The silhouette in the image shows a Ring-necked parakeet, identifiable by its distinctive long, tapering tail and slender parrot-like posture perched in a tree.

Back when you could drive through Greenwich Park. It was a good shortcut in the early morning.

The image shows a long, symmetrical tree-lined avenue under an overcast sky with a car driving down the wet road.

This was our dog Joe, he loved a good run, but always stopped to check you were following.

This image shows a misty, atmospheric landscape with a small dog standing in a vast, muted field beneath a hazy sky at sunrise.

#SundayPixSolitude had to wade out to sea to get some...

Rolling waves, low light, & dramatic clouds. A streak of blue sky is visible stretching diagonally upwards from the horizon on the left, into the sun.

My mother wandering off whilst we were visiting some formal gardens. Wandering off is, apparently, a trait she inherits from her mother. Hey mother was the grandmother wandering off for a paddle.

The image shows a person walking outdoors on the grass near trees while holding a blue patterned umbrella.
