For this #sundayfishsketch I present a couple young brown trout (Salmo trutta) hanging out by the rocks and vegetation in this underwater scene. #fish #freshwater #trout #sciart

#SundayFishSketch is a Yellowtail Wrasse (Coris gaimard) that I’ve been working on as a thank you for the U of M collections manager for taking down (and rifling through) so many nasty coffin tanks for me (sorry Ben 😂). Might yet poke at this a bit more we’ll see
Got the nose-end totally wrong, but it’s a sketch.
Sturgeon chub for “draw all the Kansas fish” self-imposed challenge and #SundayFishSketch

Now on the last batch, this last page will only have 3 fish: Polazzodus, Serrasalmimus and Pycnodus
Almost done!
Just now I learned there's a genus of "ribbongoby" thanks to photos posted by IG user @konatsu0898! Here's one Oxymetopon compressus for #SundayFishSketch 🦑🐡🧪
very quick Pacific Blue Eye for #SundayFishSketch. These are a little Australian native freshwater fish people keep in aquaria.
Back to this guy #SundayFishSketch
I'm making all the deep sea fish to scale at the moment to get a feeling for how big they acually are.
This is a bigger one 😅 (1.15m)
#SundayFishSketch BONUS: Another full page! Although this skips the few we all did during #SciArtSeptember, and my one sick day this year.
Was slurping noods at lunch when I heard TV news mention parrotfish. Apparently confusion over whether they're being overfished off Penghu 澎湖. Probably? They do appear in seafood stalls in Taiwan, often generically labeled as 青衣、紅衣、鸚哥 etc. So here' a generic Scarinae for #SundayFishSketch 🐡🦑🧪
A smorgasbord of fishes for #SundayFishSketch.
A salmon 🐟 for today's #SundayFishSketch #sciart
#SundayFishSketch is a quick little Red Handfish, since he ended up being the fish of choice for my field trip presentation this week!

🐠I completed the 2nd row quickly, so third page completed!
Top row: Corusichthys megacephalus, Maraldichthys verticalis, Gladiopycnodus karani
Bottom row: Monocerichthys scheuchzeri, Ichthyoceros spinosus, Stenoprotome hamata

An exciting graduate opportunity, but also…what in the fish??? 🧐🧐🧐
@lampichthys.bsky.social if you are looking for an upcoming #sundayfishsketch theme, imagining what this fish looks like from a lateral view could be fun 👀
Day 4 - #Cactus
A Porcupine Fish (Diodon hystrix) doing its best barrel cactus impression.
Looks like something socked them in the eye, causing the puff-up?
