It's all over again for five weeks. Onosato, the Yokozuna, squared up against Aonishiki, the Ukrainian tyro looking for another tournament win to spark his own Yokozuna run. It was a relatively straightforward win for the enormous Yokozuna to end a good tournament. Now, 1000 prizes.

Well done Onosato but I have to say I was rooting for Aonishiki because this will only put more pressure on our poor Hoshoryu

Atamifuji seemed like he had that one, and then Fujinokawa dumps him at the edge at the last possible moment to win by sukuinage (beltless arm throw). The Buff Baby ends his sekiwake debut at 11-5!

Small feisty man Fujinokawa was up against huge humongous man Atamifuji who must weigh twice as much as him. He took the charge, was forced back, and then ta-daa! Somehow he shrugged the huge man off with a flourish like a bullfighter and Atamifuji was on the ground

In another match that pits two of my favorite Large Sons against each other, Hakunofuji marches Roga out by yorikiri. Both have losing records but had impressive fights, so I doubt they’ll fall too far down the basho.

Takayasu vs. Fujiryoga was a match designed to hurt me—two of my favorites against each other in a Darwin match, no less—but that was a great win by the Snowman!
