Back home now after testing COVID positive before my shift tonight. 12 of our known 13 positive residents have been my assignment all my work week, so this result is not surprising. I have the latest vaccine. It's fine. My only symptom so far is a slightly scratchy throat. So yay, I guess, an unplanned mini vacation. The worst part, honestly, is leaving our patients and my colleagues in the lurch. Last minute call offs create chaos in nursing, especially NOC (nocturnal) shift. Tonight I'm the cause of that chaos.
