๐Ÿ” As much a fan as I am of The #StoryGraph, the godawful search continues to infuriate me.

It often cannot find a book by name and throws up some utterly bogus results.

Just added a book it couldnโ€™t find by name or ISBNโ€ฆ which does already exist (sans ISBN) because search is ๐Ÿฉฒ

September reading wrap up 82/100. ๐Ÿ“š September was slow I was migrainy. The theme was academy settings/ secret society. The theme for October is all things Halloween. I love all things spooky.

๐Ÿ“Š But mainly I wanted to revise the strategy of The #StoryGraph chart that tracks where I get my book recs. from.

I realised that there was some tag overlap on the SPFBO/SPSFC competitions, so books were doubling up and making for an inaccurate representation. I have refined my data.

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™ #BookSky ๐Ÿฆ‹

A pie chart of โ€œRecommendation Mediumโ€ that tracks which media/medium the original haulage recommendation came from. This includes origin sources ordered by quantity, that includes BookTube (64%), BookSky (14%), BookTwitter (13%), Podcast (6%), SPFBO (2%), SPSFC and Newsletters (not named but 1%) and ComicSky (1%).
@tuftymctavish.comOct 8, 2026, 9:59 AM

๐Ÿ“Š I also took a moment to refresh my Recommendations chart on The #StoryGraph.

This one tracks selected BookTube channels, BookSky posters, and Podcasts that I haul books based upon their words.

Iโ€™ve added some more folks who are active but left off single rec. scores for the now.

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™ #BookSky ๐Ÿฆ‹

A pie chart showing names of individuals, BookTube channels and podcasts that have recommended books to me. Itโ€™s ordered by name rather than value. A few segments are not named because of a lack of space.
@tuftymctavish.comOct 8, 2026, 9:51 AM

๐Ÿ“Š I have just been refreshing my charts on The #StoryGraph ๐Ÿค“ and noticed that my book hauls have plummeted in 2026, which is something of a surprise ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™ #BookSky ๐Ÿฆ‹

A bar chart titled โ€œYear Shelvedโ€ showing a selection of years from 2001 through to 2026. There is some sparseness in the earlier years where any data is lacking, but later years are more common. 2013 was a big haulage year, for reason I do not recall, and the bars start growing from 2021 when I discovered BookTube. They peaked in 2023 and have been in decline ever since.

#storygraph wrap up time!๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™
So pleased with my nonfiction reading this month. Iโ€™ve been aiming for it to represent a quarter of my yearly reading and the last 2 months are really helping w/ that goal.
Personal stats: 70% of the books I finished were #bingobooks this month and 2 of them made Bingos!๐ŸŽ‰

A collage of all the books I finished in September. Gulp by Mary Roach, Colette Decides to Die Vol 2 & 3 by Alto Yukimura, The Upcycled Self by Tariq Trotter, Flamboyants by George M Johnson, Anita de Monte Laughs Last by Xochitl Gonzalez, The Spider and the Fly by Mary Botham Howitt & Tony DiTerlizzi, A Terribly Nasty Business by Julia Seales, The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy, and Legendborn by Tracy Deon.A calendar of all the books I read in September and when. The list is the same as the collage except for Tell Me a Story Where the Bad Girls Win by Caitlin McGurk that I soft DNFed at the beginning of the month and the four books I havenโ€™t finished yet. Those books are Map Art Lab by Jill K. Berry & Linden McNeilly, Whereas by Layli Long Soldier, Insectopolis by Peter Kuper, and Lies and Weddings by Kevin Kwan.The first page of stats. The top row shows the total of books finished (10), number of pages read (944), and hours listened (65.88). The next row shows the first (Gulp), the middle (Anita de Monte Laughs Last), and last (Legendborn) read in August. To the right is the average book length (284 pages) and average time to finish (4 days). At the bottom is a line graph of pages read/minutes listened across the days of the month. The highest point is minutes listened above the 500 mark on the 27th. Next is the day before half way between 500 and 250 minutes listened. All other points sit between a little over 250 and a little over 0. The biggest pages read days were the 5th and the 19th, all there are at 0 or slightly above.The second page is mostly pie charts. The top row compares fiction vs nonfiction (70-30), page count of books less than 300 vs the 300-499 range (33-67), and audiobook lengths of less than 8 hours vs the 8-15:59 range vs 16 plus hours (29-57-14). Below that is my most read genres bar graph with historical and fantasy at the top with 3 books and YA, Manga, and Mystery just below with 2 each. Right off that is the final pie chart comparing Audio vs Print books (70-30).

Never posted August, so I'm posting a comparison.
I started an evening course last month and evenings are my prime reading time ๐Ÿ˜ญ September was a battle and I lost. I need to change something up but i don't know what. Maybe i need to prioritise some comfort reads.
