A photograph of the Baltic Sea coast just before an approaching storm. The composition is built from distinct horizontal layers: a broad stretch of wet sand in the foreground, foaming waves along the shoreline, the calmer surface of the sea beyond, and an immense, heavy sky dominating the entire landscape. On the left, low wooden breakwaters extend into the water, forming a small geometric accent against the vastness of the sea and clouds.
The waves are still relatively gentle, but their white, broken crests suggest a strengthening wind. A couple weeks ago, I was at a shopping plaza to get a couple things. There was a severe thunderstorm warning in effect, and the sky was threatening in kind. Yet, conditions were quite calm, as evidenced by the flag in the center. Oh — and that sunlight reflection! 😮
