#StarTrekNemesis
Tonight, I’ve been reading #RogerEbert’s reviews of the first ten #StarTrek movies. I’m still a #Trekkie, but I can’t really argue against any of his insightful (and hilarious) criticisms in this article. However, his rating for #StarTrekNemesis - was TOO HIGH. Ⓐ

One other thing about #StarTrekNemesis - a hole is blasted on the Enterprise-E’s bridge where the main viewer is, and a crewman is “sucked out” (or “blown out”, whichever) into space. Conveniently, the enemy spaceship then parks itself where the remaining bridge crew can see it through the hole. Ⓐ
WOW! WHAT AN ANGLE (of #CounsellorTroi, portrayed by #MarinaSirtis, in the movie #StarTrekNemesis). One of the few positive things I can say about such a shitty movie - it put in SOME ACTUAL EFFORT into giving us perverts what we were demanding for the last several films in the series. Ⓐ
An uncharacteristically GREAT camera angle (for a #StarTrekTNG movie) of #DrCrusher (portrayed by #GatesMcFadden). Those damned mostly black Starfleet uniforms normally make it SO DIFFICULT to make out (the shape of) any T&A. #StarTrekNemesis Ⓐ
To add insult to injury, the film #StarTrekNemesis is too lazy to bother explaining what #LtCmdrWorf did between leaving Deep Space Nine and rejoining the Enterprise-E. We #Trekkies can fill in the blanks ourselves - but I know I would appreciate SOME backstory. Ⓐ
#StarTrekNemesis is such a disgrace it ends on an appropriately inappropriate note:
#CaptainPicard: “I don’t know if all this has made any sense, but I wanted you to know what kind of man he was in his quest to be more like us.”
#CaptainMacNeil: “You made no sense to the walking vibrator.” Ⓐ
Back in the day, the filmmakers of #StarTrekNemesis proclaimed “one of the main castmembers will DIE!” Yeah, and the ANDROID #Data was the one that “died”. But guess what? They find ANOTHER android, who looks EXACTLY like Data. So the film was too cowardly to TRULY kill off any of the main cast. Ⓐ
On top of all the cliche we were subjected to in #StarTrekNemesis, we are subjected to additional cliche - when the #PicardClone reveals a knife, and attempts to gut #CaptainPicard. And we all know how this is going to go down. Ⓐ
Sample dialogue in the movie #StarTrekNemesis:
#CaptainPicard: “Now, Mr. La Forge.”
[THE CAPTAIN TRANSPORTS TO THE ENEMY SHIP, AND SPARKS FLY OUT OF THE COMPUTER.]
#LtCmdrLaForge: “That’s it. Transporters are down.”
#CaptainMacNeil: “HOW CLICHED!” Ⓐ
So after the spaceships, uh, “compress” into each other in #StarTrekNemesis, we see the spaceships extract themselves from each other. And then… THE ACTION CONTINUES. Great. Well, if the entire Enterprise-E ended up vaporized - I’d be cool with that. Ⓐ
The “highlight” (and as a #Trekkie, you can’t begin to imagine how much it pains me to say this) of the movie #StarTrekNemesis is when the Enterprise-E flies into (and collides into) the enemy warship. The collision looks unimpressive, neither ship is destroyed, and both ships get some damage. Ⓐ
Unsurprisingly, there is a point where #StarTrekNemesis reaches the point of ultimate cliche - when the second-in-command of the villains squares off against the second-in-command of the Enterprise-E. An unimpressive all-out beatdown occurs, and OF COURSE, the human hero triumphs. Ⓐ
The #PicardClone is dying, in the film #StarTrekNemesis. Well, he DOES experience bouts of discomfort - but it just looks like he’s severely constipated. They say he needs a transfusion of #CaptainPicard’s blood to stay alive - but it’s clear he actually needs a transfusion of Picard’s feces. Ⓐ
#StarTrekNemesis is more of a lame action movie than anything else - this is most clear when a small army of villains (supposedly some of the most efficient troops in the #DominionWar) do nothing except shoot at various walls, while #CaptainPicard returns fire - killing umpteen million of them. Ⓐ
Also in #StarTrekNemesis, #CaptainPicard shows off an old photo of himself (as a young man) at #StarfleetAcademy. And it seems Picard was nailed by UNBELIEVABLY SEVERE male pattern baldness at an absurdly early age. Happens to the best of us. Though his clone shaves his own head. Ⓐ
The film #StarTrekNemesis tried to up the ante - by featuring a spaceship that can blow up an entire planet (though it takes forever for the ship to get ready to do it). Sadly, the Earth is NOT blown up by the villains - because they foolishly put an unstable clone prone to tantrums in charge. Ⓐ
Sample dialogue in the movie #StarTrekNemesis:
#PicardClone (said to a Romulan woman): “If you EVER touch me again - I’ll kill you.”
#CaptainMacNeil: “Well, you’re even more hostile to women than Picard is. I guess that makes you a FAIRLY accurate clone of him.” Ⓐ
So #StarTrekNemesis makes the hilarious claim that THIS MOVIE features #CaptainPicard’s most dangerous foe - his “nemesis”, if you will. And since the nemesis is a clone of Picard - the film is basically saying Picard’s worst enemy is himself. Worse than the #BorgQueen? Don’t make me laugh. Ⓐ
