Enjoying these chunky handles, they have their own complications, keeping the weight balanced, as it still needs a little forward balancing, it's different for each type of spoon.

Chips from all aspects of carving a spoon.
Axing chunks, big chips from initial clean up, scoop chips from bowl carving, medium and fine chips from refining spoons, long curly spirals and paper thins from finishing cuts.

A tiny scorp for tiny spoons. I want to make a bunch of pinch spoons for salt pigs but my regular hook knife is way too big. So I took some time today to make a scorp that actually fits into the bowls of these little spoons.

Cooking spoon from Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus), that could also double up as an instrument.
Got through the rough carving of four spoons and spatulas. On a scale of horrid to fabulous I give this alder a sold "meh" for carvability. It splits so easily that it's nearly impossible to get a clean surface, I'll have to sand the final shape in to these once they're dryer.
Spoon day! My stock is running low which means that I get to whittle forever to catch up.

Managed to do the rough carving on a couple of rhododendron spoons while I tended the market stall today. A really beautiful day, maybe as slightly silly spoon.

An epic evening of carving last night, some started from scratch, others just a bit of finishing, with spoon, scoops, chess pieces and a micro chopping block.

Made these two spoonhorns from Hazel (Corylus avellana) the other evening, one left and one right handed.
Gonna decorate them next.
