Played a bunch more #SpooktoberVNJam entries tonight. There are some heaters this year, for sure but I'm getting the whole range between "people who've been making VNs for years" and "people who have never tried to make a game before", and it's actually such a great experience.

housing summertime is a ~9000-word kinetic novel about two scientists finding themselves and each other amongst a world that had ended centuries ago.

I closed my eyes, recounting the memories of hours spent in this area, testing every synthesis formula and controlled growth condition, carefully preserving every success in mini-greenhouses… and opened them, realising that there was still one place I haven't scanned. screenshot of "Housing Summertime". narration: Indeed, the town was on the verge of falling apart. But if man had it his way, it would only be rubble by now. Nature slithered through the cracks in the structures; vines married with rebar to keep a few slabs of flimsy and blasted concrete from falling over in the wind. The town had become as much a skeleton as its former people, with dirty-white bones to match the billboards bleached pale by the sun. We walk the empty streets together. Housui: Hup! Housui jumps over a hole in the road. Did a bomb cause that? A fallen piece of a building? Papers were strewn everywhere, beds were unmade, and books were either incorrectly sorted or left haphazardly on the mattresses. There must have been some sort of emergency that made the crew members leave in a hurry… I briefly looked through the books for some sort of clue like in a puzzle game, but nothing was of interest. The more I inspected, the more confused I became.
