Introducing the unassuming species Anguliphantes angulipalpis. Male in the first photo, female in the second. These are small spiders, 2.5mm in length, living in leaf litter. They hunt their food hanging under small horizontal webs. #spidersky #linyphiidae

This Monday goes to the forest floor dweller Macrargus rufus.

I found this 4mm long beast by sifting leaf litter. This species is abundant all over Finland.

The ID process was arduous until I noticed the crooked “glass spear” in the pedipalp. #linyphiidae #spidersky

The exuvia (shed exoskeleton) of my tarantula following a perfect extraction of prosoma, abdomen, and appendages. You can see the internal structure of the prosoma, including the points where the legs attach. The orange and black legs are preserved so well that they look as they did in life.My tarantula (Brachypelma smithi) at rest after her molting. She is black with bright orange bands on her legs and many fluffy hairs extending from her velvety coat.
