For many, MGM's decision to pack up and leave #Springfield is not a surprise. The litigation #Springfield over the sale of MGM Springfield, meanwhile, is the result of political failures the mayor has perpetuated. It may cost the city. #mapoli #spfldpoli wmasspi.com/2026/10/anal...

#Springfield HR/Labor Relations Director Bill Mahoney retired last week with little to no fanfare. The mayor's chief of staff Bill Baker has replaced Mahoney, which may be be part of a new pattern at City Hall. #mapoli #spfldpoli wmasspi.com/2026/10/in-s...

The September 21 #Springfield City Council was something of a denouement over one grant and possibly the charges against the City Clerk. But the larger story if far from over as one councilor revealed. #mapoli #spfldpoli wmasspi.com/2026/09/take...

The #Springfield City Council's September 21 meeting concluded a drama over a CPA grant for housing in the North End. The larger story around it appears to be far from over. #mapoli #spfldpoli wmasspi.com/2026/09/take...

$100,000 grant to New North Citizens Council subsidiary for housing that has been held up since August passes 9-2. Councilor Perez recused. Councilor Brown absent. Councilors Hurst and Whitfield dissent. #mapoli #spfldpoli

OTD: In 2019, #Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno appeared at a fundraiser for a Council candidate (Chris Pohner) where firefighters attended in uniform. I wonder whatever became of the investigation Sarno ordered. #mapoli #spfldpoli

The #Springfield City Council's post-Labor Day meeting had a basic agenda with routine items. The wheels came off the wagon when an item that had been wilting in committee was recalled unexpectedly. #mapoli #spfldpoli wmasspi.com/2026/09/take...

Beyond using social media more--not surprising as he's a digital native--Ward 7 #Springfield City Councilor Gerry Martin is saying out loud what a lot of people are thinking about the state of the Council. Granted, he isn't on a side right now. #mapoli #spfldpoli www.facebook.com/reel/2343802...

So much for tame. The Council is breaking down over the New North Citizens Council grant that Councilor Hurst has claimed is a conflict (I don't believe it is). Councilors are arguing abotu the rules. #mapoli #spfldpoli

As is often the case in bills like this, the Council would have to vote to accept this law at a later date. #mapoli #spfldpoli

Now the Council is debating a resolution in support of a state law. I don't like these resolutions because they descend into a debate about the substance of the bill as if their support/opposition has any political consequence for the Council itself. #mapoli #spfldpoli

The Council ended up passing the ordinance that pauses the Food Truck Ordinance that they thougth they passed in July. Got it? #mapoli #spfldpoli

The Council is tripping over the Food Truck Ordinance. In my estimate, nothing passed last meeting so technically, the ordinance is operative, but the admin is not enforcing it. #mapoli #spfldpoli

A HUD grant that includes money going to New North Citizens Council passes 9-1 (2 absent, Perez recused). Councilor Hurst, who has raised issues with NNCC and the clerk, votes no. #mapoli #spfldpoli
