The book cover sits at the center of the image. It shows a gothic window with pale yellow glass rimmed with white flowers, leaves, claws, branches, and strange hair? flower petal? crab-like monsters. Standing in front of the window is the silhouette of a man in a fedora. Towards the bottom right of the cover is the logo for this year's SPFBO Finalists. The background image is a close up of a sepia toned dogwood flower's center.

Book #69

A con, a crew and a story that never stops moving. Two strong leads, a fresh blend of magic and tech, and a finale worth the wait. It just runs a little too fast for its own good, and I lost the rail in the middle.

Book #66

Dark, bloody and grimdark done right. A world that feels lived in and characters who grew on me, one decision at a time. It takes a while to sink its teeth in, but once it does, it doesn't let go.

Violence & Vigilance by David T. List, Turesia Untamed Book 1

Book #64

An easy, breezy read you can finish in a day. A quiet stretch in the woods had grit, but once the romance takes the wheel I was rolling my eyes. Made for slow burn and enemies to lovers fans. I'm just not one of them.

Book #63

A latrine slave ends up carrying the realm on his shoulders, usually while still covered in something unmentionable. Once it found its footing, the humour landed and just kept getting better. A blast of an underdog story.

Jester by Tim Carter

Book #62

A winged saint and a monster who is a severed head. Sharp writing, slice of life, in a strange, blood-soaked world, and a genuine monster I still found relatable. Not fully my type of book, but it knows what it wants to be.

Book #61

I went in unsure, and the dark slowly pulled me in. Creepy mytery without tipping into horror, with one of the most creative magic systems I've read in a while and a slow burn that earns its quiet ending.

A Light from the Nether by Molly Dowd Sullivan

Book #59

A standalone LitRPG, a trickster god and a properly murderous ghost. Fun all the way, until the big showdown fizzles and the tension deflates in an instant. Still a book I enjoyed, just one that left an aftertaste it didn't need to.

The book cover sits in the center of the image. It shows the illustration of a castle surrounded by mountains being marched upon by an army of skeletons. On a ridge above the army is a skeletal necromancer presiding over the siege. The castle and its attackers are done in shades of yellow and orange and the sky, which takes up 3/4 of the cover, is a vibrant purple. Yellow paint splatters can be seen in the top corners of the cover and a few smaller ones in the bottom left. Towards the bottom of the cover is the logo for this year's Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off Finalists. The background of the image is the paint splatters from the cover, but purple on a field of yellow instead of yellow on a field of purple.

The Hallows by @hollytinsl3y.bsky.social is a finalist in this year's #SPFBO and the second time one of her books has appeared in the final 10!
My review explains its success.
We're in an age of innovation in the fantasy genre and this book is a prime example.

The book cover sits in the center of the image. It shows a young white man in a white t-shirt and rust colored pants riding on a galloping rhinoceros along a dirt path at the top of a grassy mountain. There is electricity sparking from the rhino's feet as it runs. Behind them is a valley of blue mountains and white clouds. Towards the bottom of the cover is the logo of this year's SPFBO finalists. The background of the image is the blurred photo of a similar grassy mountain with clouds behind it, but the colors have been dulled so the edge's of the image are in black and white.
